Many Florida licenses and background checks require a specific ORI Number from the agency that requested your fingerprints. This unique code is essential to ensure your results are sent to the correct place.
Are you unsure what an ORI Number is or where to find the one assigned to you?
Check Your Documents & Communications First:
Look carefully at any application forms, instruction sheets, letters, or emails you received from the agency, employer, or licensing board that told you to get fingerprinted. The ORI number is often clearly printed on these materials.
Visit the Requesting Agency's Official Website
Go to the website of the Florida organization that needs your fingerprints (for example, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), Department of Children and Families (DCF), or your specific employer if they manage this process). Search their website for sections like "Fingerprinting," "Background Checks," "Licensing Applications," or "Forms." They often list the required ORI numbers there.
Contact the Requesting Agency Directly
If you still can't find the ORI number after checking their documents and website, you must contact that agency, employer, or licensing board directly. Ask them clearly: "What is the specific ORI number I need to use for my fingerprint submission for [state your specific license, job title, or reason]?"
Your ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) Number is a 9-character code required by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to ensure your fingerprint results are sent to the correct agency, employer, or licensing board.
You MUST get this ORI number from the agency that asked you to be fingerprinted. We cannot provide it for you.

All applicants are required to present valid, unexpired photo identification before fingerprint processing can begin.
For U.S. citizens, if a Social Security Number (SSN) is being submitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) system, presentation and verification of your identification is mandatory.
If you have been issued an SSN (regardless of citizenship status), you must provide it for the background check process. Non-U.S. citizens who do not have an SSN should inform our technician, as specific processing instructions may apply."
